Workshop on Commercial use of FOSS ...

Dated: Tue 21st August 2007 Posted by: S. Srinivasan

A workshop on "Commercial use of FOSS -- Status, Prospects and Issues" on 31st Aug 07 is being organized by SALIS Project (IISc. Bangalore), STPI Chennai and NRCFOSS

As the Free/Open Source Software paradigm is scaling new heights, the focus is turning on using F/OSS for commercial purposes (Free as in freedom and not free of cost). Industry use of FOSS is hampered by lack of awareness of FOSS products, lack of manpower trained in FOSS and lack of clarity regarding licensing and other issues.

With a view to address some of these factors, a Half-day workshop on "Commercial use of Free/Open Source Software -- Status, Prospects and Issues" is being held on Friday, 31st Aug 2007 (9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) at Hotel Savera, R K Salai, Chennai**. The programme details are available here
